Those guys are brave to take their solar car through such bovine obstacles. It would have looked so cute speeding down the Great Wall of China!

You people are obviously damn liberals who want to take profits from the starving oil companies.
Listen to President Bush, The Republicans in Congress, and Neocons everywhere. Drill, drill, drill. More oil!
Republicans know that this technology must be buried, discouraged, and obstructed. Now repeat the Bush mantra - drill, drill, drill......

I think the big boys get involved only when there is money to be made and with the way the price of gas is going world-wide I think electric cars offer a viable alternative to the internal combustion engine for the first time in 50 years--Personally, I can't wait to test drive the Chevy Volt.

Chevy Volt really looks fantastic! Much, much better than Toyota Prius (hybrid).

The Tesla all-electric vehicle comes with an optional solar power recharge kit.
It's no longer the scared cow, it's now the scared goose. The Scared animal was changed last week at the Conference of Mumbai.

200 miles on a charge thats great.however how long dose it take to recharge.can i pull up to an outlet and get it back on the road in 10 or 15 mins like i can at a pump.that will be the test of the American market.that has always been the problem with full electric cars here.not big oil lobby but true usability and convenience.show me something in a 3/4 ton package that can do 100 miles on a charge that can get back out on the road in 15 mins and i might buy it.till then im not impressed.

It all comes down to your style of driving. Me? A solar charging vehicle would be perfect, since my car sits in my work parking lot all day and Colorado has 300 days of sunshine each year.
Someone who uses a pickup truck and does a lot of heavy hauling and/or distance driving probably has a longer wait for an alternative than us cubicle jockeys.

A great development, very interesting. How much do sun rays cost per gallon?I didn't know there was a solar car that was at all practical. How much would it cost if mass produced? Does it charge as you are driving? If they start selling it, better include a complete repair manual and tools. Few mechanics would know how to fix it if it breaks down.

What a great idea.
They should use the whole body of the car as one big solar panel using fiber glass like they do on Corvettes.
The biggest hurdle is getting it into production without the G.O.P trying to shut it down.
Which you know they won't approve.Oil give them power and control over us.

I think the whole point of the solartaxi around the world trip is to call attention to the fact that have the technology to produce solar powered cars and we need to work on making them a practical reality because of global warming.

There are so many ways to get around in vehicles that do not require much, if any, fuel. Al Gore spoke yesterday about how plug-in hybrid cars would effectively lower the cost to fill up at the gas pump to about $1.00/gallon. Those who drive shorter distances would have an even lower fuel bill. Why wait? The technology is available. Just need more incentives from the government and support from people nation and world-wide.

the sun will offer tons of energy as long as the earth is here. obviously we can make the tech work. a little time and we will improve it like everything else. but first, we have to stop focusing on fossil fuels. i makes no sense to pursue a finite fuel when an infinite fuel is within our grasp.
