I just installed Navigator 9 today 'cause Propeller was lagging SO bad, and timing out in Firefox.

Fun stuff.

Guys,

I've looked at the other netscapes; but I browse and use NETSCAPE 7.2. I like this edition, simple ease of use and mail etc. Every upgrade since I have found to be not user freindly.

I totally agree. I been using the browser since '92' or 3 and have never needed support. Actually I think 99% of software support is crap and fix it myself.

puffin the Prop lags because the server is too small for the amount of traffic. IMHO

Your assumption is correct. Speed is determined by the receiving server. Also called low bandwidth.

That's exactly what my computer guys says.

So can they fix that? And more importantly, will they?

Exactly, "will they". My first year I had a 56k on AOL. When Netscape first linked, hooked, whatever, up with AOL I thought. Oh f__k. They billed my card for 6-8 mo. after I dumped them and I had done everything according to Hoyle, except check my credit card bill.

Having been a fan of Netscape ever since it's introduction I am saddened to see it disappear. It's probably the only "brand loyalty" I've ever had. But life is nothing more than a series of losses and learning to deal with them until life itself is lost.

I'll have to check it out. I switched to FF a while ago. Love the security.

I have liked Netscape from the beginning, so I will be sad to see it go. I don't using Foxfire with Propeller because it doesn't keep my tag history. I have downloaded Flock, gave it a test run and it doesn't look like I will have that problem with it. It has been nice using Netscape, but I guess it is time to move on.

Wait a sec. It says:

The "Remind me later", followed by clicking the "Stay with Netscape" button, can be used in case one wants to keep Netscape 9 after the end of support date. For those who are keeping Netscape, the Navigator 9.0.0.6 release contains the security patches contained in Firefox 2.0.0.12.

Does that mean that people will still be able to use netscape after March 1st?

Nothing would keep a person from using the browser after March 1st. You just have to understand that no more security updates will be released for it. Jay Garcia, who is one of the developers, often has said on his site that Netscape 9 should still be safe to use for years to come.

Of course, as sites change and html is upgraded, Netscape could become nonfunctional. But, it will probably be awhile before that happens.

What about the mail service? I am keeping my 7.2

There will be no updates to the mail service either. (Message directed at Jeffieny; Propeller didn't post my reply in the right spot for some reason).

'downloaded Flock, THEN saw the FAQs that said it doesn't work on Mac OS 10.3.09. They said they're workin' on it.

Oh! I shouldn't have yelled at my internet provider, I guess.

Just to let you all know, Netscape has provided a list of extensions for Flock/Firefox so that you can get back the added functionality of Navigator 9. I'm particularly glad they released the linkpad (one of my favorite Netscape features).

P.S. Some of the links are incorrect at the moment, so you might have to do a manual search for some of the add-ons.
