Kudos to them. We should start boycotting alot of things and send big businesses some messages. I wonder how it would affect the RIAA if everybody who opposes their policies would block MTV and VH1.

Ebay lowered it's listing fees by a few cents but then raised it's "Final Value" fees by 3% on most sales. There is no savings here. Boycott them!

ebay boycotts have been tried almost every year since 2000. they always have a one or two day effect, then its business as usual. the reason is that sellers still want to sell and ebay has more traffic than any1.

Sellers have ruled to long on Ebay , a person that has a legitimate complaint gets bullied into retracting their negative comment by a Seller .

Slanderous , and down right illegal tactics by Sellers .

Booo Hooo ! Servers them (Sellers) right .

What about the buyers that post negative feedback without giving the Seller notice that there is a problem.?. If a Seller posts negative feedback it's considered retaliation..

Sellers deserve to be treated better. we're the ones providing the product for those huge numbers that eBay and PayPal show as profit. These increases are why slowly some of the other sites are gaining popularity by Sellers.

EBAY NEEDS TO LOWER SELLER FEES, THEY MAKE ENOUGH MONEY FROM US ALREADY, BY THE TIME YOU PAY INSERTION FEES, FINAL VALUE FEES AND PAYPAL FEES, ETC, YOU END UP BREAKING EVEN OR LOOSING. EBAY GETS THEIR MONEY WHETHER YOU SELL OR NOT. THERE ARE NO INCENTIVES ANYMORE, YOU CAN SELL ON OTHER AUCTION SITES FOR LESS FEES, IT JUSTS THAT EBAY IS SO "BIG". IT ONLY WORKS OUT GOOD FOR THE BUYER THESE DAYS.

If your goods don't sell you don't pay "FINAL VALUE FEES" which is the main cost and if they don't sell theres no paypal either only the few cents of the insertion fee?

I bet a lot of people will be giving Google Base a try... It's free to list, but items expire ever 30 days. You just can't beat free!

Ebay has always tried to protect sellers, as they are the ones who pay the fees. Even when a seller is a crook, ebay will avoid doing anything about it as long as possible.

I once bought a used commercial toaster on ebay for a friend who owned a restaurant.

The seller had a high rate of pos. feedback. When the toaster got here, the legs were missing, the crumb tray was missing, the cord was cut off, and they unit would not heat up.

I had paid $25.00 shipping n the item, and so I called the seller and told him of the problem. They wanted me to return the item, postage paid, where they would examine it, and then decide if a refund were feasible.

I looked back over their feedback, and found that everytime they had neg. feedback, it was over an item that was a used electrical appliance. The high positive feedback was over spoons pots and pans, etc. (new items with no moving parts)

Ebay did nothing about it, and the next year, they named this guy seller of the year.

wow, well first of all i take some of the comments about sellers kinda personally. i went out of my way to satisfy my customers. and the vast majority of sellers are the same.

that said, i quit selling on ebay a couple years ago. the reason was very simple. after insertion and final value fees, i was barely making any money at all, certainly not enough to justify all the time i was putting into it.

for the record my score was 399 with a rating of 99.8% when i stopped selling.

How can it be personal, there are 100,000s of sellers and millions of buyers, most are honest but anything this big is going to atract con-men/women as well, sellers & buyers. The point I think vesper was trying to make is that Ebay themselves seem to keep bringing in rules that help the crooks like the 'private auction', reducing the time feedback text remains active, making it a violation of rules to contact someone if you think they are being ripped off.

And they make it quite hard to get help if there is a problem the couple of times I had problems (before I also gave up) it took days to get a reply and the replys were a waste of time.

I don't know about the rest of the world but I did do some digging into the Aussie ebay site and 'after several hours' found that here they have registered themselves off shore (sweden) in an attempt to avoid our quite strong consummer protection laws.

Success for the boycott would mean a hit to eBay's bottom line. However, attempts at boycotts in the past have all fizzled. But these changes have really hit home and the amount of venom on the forums is really amazing.
