Posted By nowsourcing 1 year, 1 month ago in Science & TechnologyAs many of you may have noticed today, Skype services are not operational. I've used Skype in the recent past and they stink! It screws up you're IE browser when you're trying to close it down, and gives you constant error messages. Heck! It even affected my Outlook Express! I've finally took the whole program off my PC and it is running smoothly once again. Take it from me, don't use Skype!

I actually find Skype easy to use and reliable. You can always take off the browser tools and other add-ons (although I agree that they shouldn't automatically be installed).

Good for you Eyebee! Personally, I really don't care what you do with you're PC. Use Skype.

agreed - Skype is a solid program and other factors such as IE do not reflect its performance.

Bullcrap!
Unless you actually seen BronxBomber's computer, you have no foundation to make an argument, and he said all was working well AFTER he took Skype off his PC. Including Outlook Express. All you have is just you're amateurish conjecture ..."elZerro". Check yourself, before you wreck yourself. You're mask is on too tight, loosen it a little.
I've used Skype in the past, and BB's right. It does stink. If it's so flawless, how come it's constantly having problems?
& I don't agree with you...Z boy.

If you read my comment "Z". I wasn't complaining about the browser "speed", I was talking about "closing" down a webpage replete with error messages, and trouble with the same with Outlook Express...ok? Try reading next time before you comment on something, and I don't care if you use Skype or not either. Now that I've smartened you up a bit. I'm out of here. It's been a pleasure teaching you about common sense ...son.

yeah, I know what you mean. When I saw it happening to several computers I thought it was the firewall at first :)

BronxBomer is right, Skype stinks. It doesn't work. VOip is a lie. Earthlink's digital phone service stinks as well. I got ripped off for $50.oo. Vonage stinks. They use collection agencies when they owe the customer money. The whole Voip is a scam. It is another example of computer based incompetence and lies. The WWW/Internet is not ready for VOip. Their bandwidth is just another computer based prevarication (lie). It is like buying an apple pie without any apples between the crust. A car without an engine. It is like the World Trade Center explanation, not the whole deal. The same for JFK's assassination and Watergate. Want to find out more about these three items? Read me here on netscape.
I bought a VOip telephone. I got beat. It is in its box.

I have Vonage for almost 3 years. It's only ever been out once - that was about 20 mins.
My billing has always been correct. I've always gotten credits for signing up new people without any issues.
I use Vonage for both perosnal and business, and therefore reliability is a concern. Vonage has always been reliable here, and very good value for money too - certainly not a rip-off like BellSouth or AT&T or whatever/whoever owns them now or next week.

I'm in agreement with eyebee on this. Ingsocartsem, you're saying that VOip stinks because people don't pay their Vonage phone bill?

you'd be surprised. Lots of VOIP customer focused companies have closed recently (Tomatovine, Sunrocket) so Vonage is the pretty well-known one.

Living in another country with very high phone rates and little competition Skype has become my primary telephone method for reaching the US.
It is worse this week because I am in the middle of planning a trip to the States and need to make a lot of arrangements -- some by phone.
Normally a great (!) service, Skype drove me crazy yesterday -- downloading and re-installing the older version over the Beta and only then finding the advisories that it was not my fault.
Luckily they are fixing it almost as fast as the Fed is fixing the Market.

Has anyone tried a competing product like Yahoo? What are your thoughts on those?
