The global warming/energy independence challenge presents us a unique opportunity to turn our research capacity to good use and help not just the USA but the world toward a better future. Doing this would produce a local manufacturing and research industry of huge proportion with lots of high paying jobs that would not easily be sent off-shore.
Solving energy independence is not just an economic necessity, it is a national security issue.

We can beat China in the 'net-wars'. We have thousands more Myspacers (aka Mytards) and fat losers (aka blogtards) than they do. All we have to do is offer free Britney Spears Second Life sex dolls and free ringtones and they'll just flock to our side.
