Gadgets & Tech – Netscape is pleased to announce the immediate availability of Netscape Navigator 9.0 Beta 1. The release is now available for download for Windows, Mac, and Linux.
I'm loving the new Netscape browser. Kudos to the development team. I used Safari because I liked it's look and feel, but then would have to use Firefox 2 for compatibility issues with Google Apps and banking sites. Now I'm happy to say with Netscape, I have the best of both worlds - Netscape has become my one and only, full time browser. Thanks Netscape team and please keep up the good work.
Can someone help me with this? Since 1966 I have always used Netscape Mail. It has been part of Mail and Newsgroups. I love it and it has never failed me. I currently use NS 7.2 and was thrilled to see that 9 is available and I downloaded it today and installed, but there seems to be no Mail facility any more. My current mailboxes in 7.2 have thousands of emails. I use 7.2 even more than Firefox and Safari (and like those too) but NS 7.2 is used most because I am always on email. Can someone help me with this? If Netscape has eliminated Mail from version 9 then I won't be using version 9. Thanks.

Net 9 is definitely a Beta but much worse than the original Netscape Hybrid Preview (pre Net 8) but don't let its stone slow performance on this Netscape site sway you as there looks to be some serious problems with this site itself and not the browser, it's slow on ALL browsers (Opera, IE, FF, Net 9).
The one big gripe I have with Net 9 is the fact that when you click on a link, the page won't open till you click on the TAB button.
Net 9 also claims to render Forms but I have yet to find any forms setup or queries...just not there any more.
The interface is downright dismal, at least Net 8 had some imagination and a bit of glitz.
Some Mozilla based plugins and extensions do work such as Flash Blocker, Status and no scripting and it's memory use is in line and stable....looks like it may ultimately be worth spending some time on as you can never have enough browsers.
I found that if you're using the XP firewall that you have to manually configure Navigator as an "exception". Use the exceptions tab, find navigator, and click on it. Should help speed things up at the site.
That itself shows poor planning and a lack of brainpower! Could it be that it was developed by a "Committee of Mediocre Programmers" whose last meaningful job was Windows 3.1?
