interesting. hope this isn't going the way of the digg top users list (the trash), but excited to see what ideas the netscape team is coming up with!

Dont worry populist, we wont let it turn out like diggs slap in the face to its userbase. Mostly due to the fact a good portion of the staff here, were the ones on diggs "top user" list who kevin decided to throw to the curb(self included).

I wish your article went into more specific detail about the changes you're considering. It's difficult to make any relevant suggestions if I'm only told that you're thinking of changing things.

Changes will be made. If they should prove unpopular, tdrapeau and the staff, as a consequence of this very non-specific post, will then claim that, "We announced that changes were being considered, and we invited user comments." In that way they hope to avoid responsibility for their own actions. It is alo the next step in the erosion of their userbase, Each time they demonstrate their disregard for the people on the site, they lose more users.

"Once we have finished our investigation, the idea of "Homepage Stories" may very well become obsolete."

What does that mean? Are you going to get rid of the homepage?

Could you guys BE any more obscure? Why bother to blog, post and tag something that says absolutely nothing?

      This just in:

I just may go with the bear claw from the vending machine. I'll investigate surrounding machines to make sure, just in case, that perhaps my decision is sound. I might keep you updated, if and when I reach my decision.

I think we have a case of overloaded minds turning to mush! I'd say this story should've been posted in "Humor" instead of "Gadgets & Tech" Obviously no one is getting too technical here. Requires too much memory.

I don't know what Netscape has done...they took something that worked and turned it into a bland sheet of paper. And of course AOL had to get into the picture. It's the old story of a company doing something well, then merging with another company, and the product starts to stink.

          The greed abounds!

I'm going to politely ask that an anchor please update this post to give specific information about the changes being considered. I would like to know about planned changes to the home page and the calculating of member site rankings. Please do not ignore me.

Now for the question that is just begging to be asked:

Will these changes make it easier for navigators' stories to make it to the front page?

This is, no doubt, a response to the tsumami of Rosie/911 Truther posts that have dominated the Homepage lately. Even after sending group messages to mutual friends has been eliminated, people still have found a way to game the system.
