CompUSA to close more than half of U.S. stores

Gadgets & Tech – CompUSA, the computer and gadget retailer owned by Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim, said on Tuesday it would close more than half of its U.S. retail locations over the next two to three months to focus on top performing locations.

Damn, this is really the only place within a reasonable distance of my office to get basically any computer parts I need at a moment's notice. Hopefully something will fill its spot.

I will be despondent if I have to go to Beast Buy- it is so LOUD in that place. Plus the fact that they don't specialize in computers.

A big earthquake with the strength of 9.1 on the Richter scale has hit

Mexico. Two million Mexicans have died and over a million are injured.

The country is totally ruined and the government doesn't know where

to start in providing help to rebuild. The rest of the world is in shock.

Canada is sending troops to help the Mexican army control the riots.

Saudi Arabia is sending oil as Mexican oil fields are in ruins.

Other Latin American countries are sending supplies.

The European community (with the exception of France) is sending food

and money.

The United States, not to be outdone, is sending two million

replacement Mexicans.

The land, buildings belonging to Dollar General in SC was bought and paid for with American tax dollars. Wonder if Slim got rich off America that way too.

I bet the overhead of utilities and such are just too much for these stores.

Staffing with 15 year olds did not save too much in labor I suppose.

I guess they do not make money on their credit cards because the outsource to household bank.

This is no suprise at all. CompUSA is my last resort when purchasing becuase they have lousy customer service at the store and the worst return policy of any store.

Bad customer service = out of business

not rocket science, just common sense.
