Sorry, I'm also aa Mac user, although, I do cross platform with Virtual PC.

Anything you want to do on a Mac is three times faster than on a PC.

I absolutely hate the install wizard, aand would by Far prefer the "drag me to the applications folder to install me" option in Mac OS X.

Appdelete, Is also far easier than any form of PC Uninstaller you'll ever find.

Windows products attach themselves to many many other programs. After they become embedded, it's impossible to delete an unwanted program.

PC's always give you that nasty window box that says"Can't Delete, prograam in use by Everything else."

Well my decision has been made and after the better part of 20 years screwing around with pc's I have decided that the next computer I purchase will be a MacPro and that is going to be no later than this Summer!

I love, love, love my mac! Have had four of them over the years, and never any trouble. Bought my grandson a mac when he was four, and seven years later he's a little computer genius.

Oddly enough I use my Mac to consume and like to use my PC to create. Illustrator just chokes on a mac. But iChat and iTunes are great.

What does Apple really have that you can't find on a regular PC? Proprietary stuff everywhere, and an operating system with such a strict DRM scheme that you can't install it on a machine unless it's an Apple, no matter what the specs are.

OK, maybe the software is good, but until they'll let me use my own hardware to use it, I refuse to buy.

I use to own a computer store. I can say with experience, you'll never see a Mac that can compete with a P.C. Don't get me wrong, Macs run alright....But the price tag will put you into the poor-house. And lets not forget those expensive upgrades! Mac is a little too little a little too late, they should have done this years ago. Remember you can still buy about 4 pc's for the price of one MacPro. Too me that is Check-mate!

Little too little too little too late mac is owning pc. I just switch from pc to mac and love it. Now that you can run all os on a mac, mac is becoming the man. They gained 2 % of the marketshare which is just going to keep growing, especially with when the own the mp3 bussiness and they will soon own the phone bussiness. Sooner or later the will have a large part of the pc bussiness. At this rate i could see them taking 30-40% of the pc industry, especially if they can get windows to run at 100 percent. SO WITH that said check-mate.

I have one Sony laptop, a windows desktop at the office and two Macs. The windows machines are worthless to me. I have spent more time with tech support and virus protection and windows "Issues" than I care to mention, They are also sooo ridiculously slow. So yes, I do find the ads very funny. My Macs are wonderful, in 6 years I have been to a repair shop once (for dropping an ibook at the airport and never used tech support, even with a cracked hinge it worked). I am typing this from my brand new Mac-Book. I have had it two days and am in love with it. Expensive? You get what you pay for, and as another commercial puts it... I'm worth it.

                        Mac is a cool guy.

That's what I use for last three years. A bit stubborn sometimes, but I like him though.

Going back to a pc? I doubt.

XP isn't on par with OS X, but remember, you don't have to use Windows to own a PC. Given the cost, as compared to owning a PC, owning a Mac is not cost effective. Moreover, just like CarlM82 stated, you have to deal with proprietary hardware and software. No thanks! When I can build one to my own specfications, I might consider owning a Mac. Keep in mind, I built my pc, to edit media and code, for under $500 dollars. So, don't always believe the marketing hype.

Some years ago Apple tried to work out to have their software run on other hardware. It was a disaster, because they could not control the quality and soon Apple software users were having all of the pc problems with none of the macbenefits. One reason Macs are so beloved is that they are so reliable and rugged. (I too dropped computer - it was in my suitcase that got tossed out of a plane and bounced down the tarmac end over end a dozen times. Then endured turbulance for hours. Put it on my desk, turned it on, and it said howdy doo what shall we do today. This was not a laptop! It was only wrapped in a sweater. I would say that was pretty cost effective. (And a good ad for American Tourister too.)

Most of us are either casual users or way too busy to go to the lengths you do. I just want to turn it on and use it. Thing should work for me not tother way round. I already work 60 hrs a week. The heck I'm gonna be a slave to my computer!

I'm glad to see some discussion going on in the tech channel, finally!

I'm a PC user. I would probably never buy a Mac, because I can build a far better PC for a lot less money. Hell, I don't think Apple knows how much money they would make if they released Mac OS X for the PC, but until that happens, I'm using Ubuntu 6.10, very stable operating system and far more secure than Mr. Gate's product.

I've been around pc's long enough now that they don't really excite me. I'm not even all that excited about Vista to be honest with you. However, what does excite me is OS X and teh sexy Apple hardware.

Everybody says that if Apple would just sell OS X to everyone, then we'd be happy. I disagree. I really don't understand why a pc manufacturer like Dell, Gateway, or HP can't hire a design studio to come up with a kick ass hardware design! I still think my G4 iMac is pretty cool...

Quite honestly, OS X was made to run on sexy hardware and I feel it would cheapen it a bit by running it on my Toshiba laptop or any of my other 5 pc's.

Same old war...PC vs Mac. No real winners...just what you bought first, usually. I've worked with both for almost 20 years and both have their pluses and minuses. But I prefer Macs for ease of use, non-existent virus problems, and generally better operating system.

I actually did write it by myself, JPW1116. I was inspired by a series of threads as I'm seeing here! I am a Mac & PC guy... I have both and love each for different reasons. I simply think it's a hilarious argument between the two. Each points fingers at the other, and both run to the bank with it.

                                        Thanks!

I'm thinking of a Dilbert cartoon I once saw -- Bearded guy in casual clothes says, "Windows? Here go buy yourself a REAL computer..." and flips the geeky guy a quarter. Although it is pretty much an "adolescent" operating system, Linux is basically the same os OSX - both are multiuser operating systems, presumably modeled after Unix. With the latest iteration of Linux, you pretty much have the best of both worlds: no virus problem, rock solid performance, Open Office (FREE, FREE, FREE at last...) is a very good replacement for Microsoft productivity software, and.... (big drum roll, please...) IT'S FREE!!! Even the upgrades are FREE! And, it will run on inexpensive, commodity hardware. I'll admit, there are a couple of favorite programs I still boot up Windoze to use, but that's mostly out of laziness. There are comparable Linux programs I COULD use, but I'd have to convert a LOT of work. (posted from Firefox running on Fedora Core 6, 64 BIT FREE operating system)

This made no sense. It had a confused message. Was the point here that Macs are too expensive or that they work better? If it was "both" the writer did a poor job of distinguishing it and made a mess of it.

If MACS -really- worked that much better, businesses would flock to buy them as they would actually be more cost effective then PCs -- even though the up front cost is a lot higher. This is not happening. ALL business managers aren't idiots. Probably not even MOST. This should tell you something.

Hmmm ... I used both...Mac and PC ( way before OS-X and XP are what they are today... ) What I like about mac the OS Core is BSD based...it uses intel chips now... and I can put XP on it with a little work, What I dont like about mac ... pain in the underside to get to the guts ( yes I am talking about the 'cli') and I dont like how it runs programs ( even though its gracefull at shutting them down when it mis behaves) what I like about PC's I can experiment with hardware !!! I can run Linux more readilly ( many more distros available for PC than mac ) and its easy to wipe clean when the OS gets corrupt ... what I dont like about PC's ... they get corrupt with out my intervention ... Its all about what you are used to... I may have to get one just so I can run Final Cut Pro ... not exactly thrilled with the program but if thats what they are hiring for ... 'nuff said!
