I love my XD. I have a laser for it. It shoots great and has never jammed through over 1000 rounds.

I am more drawn to the Desert Eagle. Guns are to expensive, I would chose Stoegers model 8000 Cougar for less then $400. I like hand guns that I can afford.

Fine guns all, except the Desret Eagle,for the weight I'd Carry a shotgun,Berretta is a POS, ever wondered why it holds 15 rounds? What you can't hit you hose.

I find it strange that the 1911 Commander is not listed, very little work and you'd have a compact tack driver.

HK MK-23. That's the one I'd love to have. Very tough, designed to fire triple loaded ammo with match grade accuracy. Unfortunately they cost about $2,000 new. Maybe one day....

I still prefer a revolver. The Colt .45 with a 6" barrel is an excellent handgun and is an excellent fast draw, old west style. The 357 is wonderful because whatever you shoot will either get shot or die of fright! It's very useful when you realize you can use .38 special cartridges in them, and it makes that heavy handgun extremely accurate.

Being a retired lawman who has fired many different hand guns. I believe the Sig Saur is the best and ruger autos are the worst...Beretta 92 is a good decent 9mm...Used a Beretta tomcat as back up gun...

A ruger .357 security six revolver gets me six inch groups at thirty yards.For punch though I have a springfield armory 1911 clone chambered for .40 s&w.Both are very affordable and dependable.

Anyone look at the new FN57. It takes a different approach to the PDW line. If the cops had that weapon during that north Hollywood shoot out it would have been over in about 40 seconds.

i like hand canons the best, but keep a shotgun next to the bed so i dont miss if i am half asleep.

If i could afford one it would definitely be the Desert Eagle .50AE. Stops any attacker dead in his tracks because if you shoot him in the kneecap, there is no knee joint left and said attacker now has 1-1/2 legs to keep running at you with. But I keep a katana on my headboard and I will hear a thief come into my house and I WON'T run out of ammo when I see him sneaking about.

Thanks for reposting the link - don't know what happened to the one I posted - It was working fine before I left the thread! I especially like their selection of specialized shotgun rounds and even tried out their "fireball" round - It will scare the cr@p out of you the first time you fire one off. My home defense shotgun is loaded with alternating rounds of buck & ball and flechette rounds!

All of those pistolos are cool-looking guns and all, but any gun that you like that will go boom in the night when something goes bump in the night is a great gun! I've had a number of guns that I like over the years and I'm down to just my old Browning Hi-Power and Colt Detective Special. I gave my Colt Combat Commander to my brother to use and now he won't give it back! I think I'll disown him!

I have a Colt 1911A1 .45 and I love it. I have fired several thousand rounds and never had a jam. I had to replace the slide return spring retainer once. Only trouble I've had with it.

I also have a Walther P-38 in 9MM. Nice weapon but it doesn't have the shear knock down power of the .45.

For distances a little further out I like my S&W Model 28 .357 magnum.

I own a springfield armory xd-9 subcompact and i LOVE it. the gun is the best by far that i own. my other pistol is a ruger p345 (45 cal) and it will definately get the job done if the xd doesnt.

as for rifles ive got a yugoslavic sks and a winchester 870 express magnum 12 ga. shotgun. both of which are sick and will tear it up!

but my next gun is definately an hk, they are, imo, by far the cleanest gun out there.

and glock is just a name, get over that already people!
