The Secret of Firefox's Success »
Posted by: schestowitz 1 year, 10 months ago"A lot of people don't even know what a browser is," said Firefox co-creator Blake Ross. "They think that it's the first thing they use on the Internet. They say, 'What do you mean browser, is that Google? Is that Yahoo?' It's hard to get people to switch browsers if they don't understand the concept."

Nov. 12, 2006, 12:50 a.m.Firefox is Netscape...both are owned by Mozilla. They are pretty much identical, so I don't know what the big deal is.

Nov. 12, 2006, 10:28 a.m.Tried it, thought it was great, but then couldn't get it to work right after putting some of the "add ons" in place.
ended up deleting it, but will probably try it again in the future when it is debugged.

Nov. 12, 2006, 11:10 a.m.I have been using Netscape ever since version 3 was out in the early-mid '90's. I've always found Internet Explorer to be way too moody and bossy for me. Now I use mostly Netscape and some Firefox. They way outclass IE in my opinion!

That's hard to believe. It might apply to the 10% of the least savvy internet users. A lot of people, but nowhere near the majority.
Most people don't have a compelling reason to switch from IE. Microsoft bundled it with their OS for that reason. Inertia rules!
Having said that, I never use IE unless I go to a web site that requires it.

Nov. 12, 2006, 11:33 a.m.Good browser, but Safari is much faster for my purposes. I use Firefox about 15% of the time. Hate Windoz, Apple rocks.

Nov. 12, 2006, 11:39 a.m.I used to swear by Netscape, but since AOL took over the mail last year, it's a mess. I never got one piece of spam. Now I get it every day. Different functions, such as copying and pasting on to emails is gone. Many times,I cannot even get to my mail. This "new and improved" mail stystem is another example of how AOL can screw up anything it puts its hands on.
I am going to try Firefox.
