MySpace Knocked Offline by Power Outage »
Posted by: Webwonk 2 years, 2 months agoMySpace is offline most of Sunday night, save for a message blaming the downtime on a power outage. The Internet tilts on its side as distraught users flock to LiveJournal to post blog items saying "OMG, MySpace is down!"

July 24, 2006, 10:19 a.m.Looks like they're back online as of Monday morning. Yes, it does seem peculiar that they wouldn't have backup servers in another location. You would think that with all the money they probably they make from the annoying advertising they have on their pages, that they would shell out some cash to get some alternative servers. It looks like someone's just sitting back and raking in the dough.

July 25, 2006, 10:29 a.m.What's up with links on Netscape anyway? I post a link to a Netscape story and they redirect it to a different story. So I removed the http:// and they truncate the text of the link. Is this a bug? Or is Netscape being sneaky, playing games with comments to promote the stories they want? Won't take much of that to lose what's left of their users.
