July 3, 2006, 4:06 p.m.I love the new Netescape! It has interesting stories as well as serious news. And the readers can voice their opinions and decide which stories make the "front page."

July 3, 2006, 4:22 p.m.Balanced view. The new Netscape is not that bad as oldtimers are trying to tell us. But perhaps they should have been given a chance to enjoy the old style.

July 3, 2006, 5:04 p.m.Guys check the new YAHOO web page.http:... Now why do I not express criticism of the new Yahoo site.. well because it is more sane and not insane as the Netscape new??? site. Check it out may be you will make it your new homepage. The sensible part of the page is they give the user the choice of "Switch to Old Page" option. This is what we have been asking Netscape to do for their loyal followers, however to them it does not make sense. In spite of the choice given by Yahoo to go to the old site I like the new page and may not go to the old site. The same may have happened here too if the choice was given. Anyway I have found my new home page and don't care about the Netscape new site.

July 3, 2006, 5:43 p.m.Follow the money.
Nobody said "let's improve the Netscape home page." Somebody said "can we find a cheaper way to do a home page--maybe automate it somehow?" And this what we get. The old site, which took a little labor to develop was so interesting that I usually clicked 4 to 5 things before moving on. This version is easier and cheaper for them to build, but it is crap.
And yes, I'm one of the 10,000 who registered only to express my disappointment and intention to find another home page.

July 3, 2006, 5:44 p.m.This website is so obviously slanted in opinion that I really do not like it at all. It is O.K. to disagree but when all the topics are totally biased politically, it just becomes a liberal website.

July 3, 2006, 6:15 p.m.This is an interesting concept launch for Netscape. Seems like they are looking to forge their way into the brave new world of Web 2.0 and leave portalization to the other guys.
Good luck on the new look and feel..

July 3, 2006, 6:54 p.m.I agree...thats why the site needs people of all political minds and beliefs. Come on and join the crowd. Your thoughts and stories are just as important as any one elses. Its my guess that you will see a 'Opinion or Commentary' channel soon that I hope will clean the this site up a little. Hope Hope!!

July 3, 2006, 7:16 p.m.Looks to me like Netscape is trying to loose as many of their faithful as they possibly can. This new Netscape sucks and it is time to either bring back the old or give us a choice as to which one we want instaed of shoving this garbage down our throats. This is the worst improvement I have ever seen.

July 3, 2006, 7:19 p.m.Awesome new site. It actually lets you form your own opinion, without stuffing one sided news down your throat.

July 3, 2006, 8:20 p.m.Its ok, but i liked the old style,
my choice would be a little more like slashdot.org
or fark.com.....
Make the vote button smaller or part of the comment line.
Get rid of the visit site link. The headline would link to the site..
I like to settle into a pattern, and then dont like change..
But i do understand it is necessary for growth..
Life would be boring without change, and opinions....

July 3, 2006, 8:42 p.m.I want real news and really don't want to read other people's opinions regarding what gets to be printed as real news. Netscape has gone down the drain and needs to be retrieved. Blogging is for those who have a real need to express themselves, but is not the way to real success, in my opinion. Give them their area for achievement and satisfaction and let those that want to read their blogs do so, but let Netscape's front page go back to what is wanted, more readable on one page and real current news. All the new format does is take up more time scrolling than one wants to spend here. When is this nightmare going to end????? Patiently waiting until I have no more time to wait and change browsers in defense as Netscape wastes itself away into oblivion. Circulation numbers have to be falling quickly with all the complaints posted and it is the majority that should rule in these decisions. Give us what we want back, please. There has never been a browser more user friendly until now.

July 3, 2006, 9:01 p.m.The new format is really off-base, I'll probably return to YAHOO which has a balanced approach. Most of us do not want all the social commentary, just links to interesting articles. NETSCAPE had it right and lost it!!

July 3, 2006, 9:01 p.m.This is very disappointing. Netscape.com was never a serious news site and had a definite tabloid info-tainment streak to it, but this is a disaster. How on earth did these wacko stories come to be the most prominent part of the page? What market is this trying to appeal to? Whatever is left of the Netscape brand is really going to be damaged by this.

July 3, 2006, 9:26 p.m.Katgirl57, I agree and I am a liberal. I hope we can get some balance on here but it will take some conservatives to join in. I also hope to see an 'Opinion/Comments channel added that may work to clean some of this up and make it a nicer site for all to visit.

July 3, 2006, 9:54 p.m.This new look has thrown me off, I not quite sure if I would or could enjoy using this site. I preferred the earlier version where I could choose at a glance and a click where I wanted to view and read. Having to scroll down the a number of pages to find an article just takes to long. I have reverted to using netscape only to retriev my email.

July 3, 2006, 10:34 p.m.I hate the new Netscape look. Sometimes the old is better
than the new. In this case the old is definitely better than
the new.
