July 1, 2006, 8:11 p.m.10K new members--what's so great about that? How many existing members/non-members hit the old Netscape.com web site on any given day? And--how many dissatisfied members/non-members are there? You have no way of measuring that.
On the other hand--the post-beta launch looks pretty good considering everything. For any of us early adopters who have survived the last 20-25 years online--change will always be around the corner. This one could be REALLY good for Netscape/AOL but it's to early to tell.
Even though I don't like it as much as the old Netscape--I wish the company well in getting this off the ground. And as most things online go--the NEW Netscape will attract a lot of followers and then 1-3 years down the road make another change and have the normal number complaints at launch. I love it!

July 1, 2006, 8:16 p.m.These Netscape stories are getting a little old...but I guess I'm adding to the problem by commenting on them. I will make my comment brief and to the point.
Thanks, Jason and the fine crew @ Netscape for making this site possible...we love it!!!

July 1, 2006, 8:26 p.m.I told two people about the site yesterday...one e-mailed me last night and the other this morning both raving about Netscape. The two in the past pretty much always dogged out AOL/Netscape products but they like what they see here.

July 1, 2006, 11:30 p.m.This is a self forfilling prophecy. You have to join the new page in order to post your displesure about the new Netscape home page format. Then you become part of the 10,000 new members they brag about! Give me a break!

July 2, 2006, 12:40 a.m.Netscape as a portal had a good run. The last time I browsed down into it was to grab the RSS feeds of a few of the old compuserve forums that were a part of the community areas on Netscape. Compuserve is still up for access to those forums, btw. I'd say the biggest loser might end up being the photo print service Snapfish as they had a presence on the old Netscape. Snapfish has it's own website though.

July 2, 2006, 1:21 a.m.If this is the future of the Netscape homepage, I'll change mine. Simple is quite often better and voting on what's important in news items is to quickly descend into anarchy. I'll keep my voting in the voting booth.

July 2, 2006, 1:22 a.m.I lost my bookmarks! Whats with that?? Not crazy about the new format.

July 2, 2006, 1:25 a.m.If this is the "new" Netscape, give me back the old! I don't really want to "vote" on the significance of a news story and I DO NOT BELIEVE that submitting votes will make the service any better. Just look at what happens with baseball and the All-Star ballot box stuffing...
I will search and find another home page, I guess. I very much enjoyed and used the older Netscape home page and if you want something different, you can stay with this - I won't.

July 2, 2006, 2:14 a.m.I want the old Netscape back. This is too confusing, I miss a lot of great stuff. Netscape home page WAS my comfort zone. I am also disappointed the Netscape has stolen this new format. I have to find another home page now.

July 2, 2006, 2:32 a.m.Groundhog day.... (Scott-O-Rama gets it, very funny).
AND THEY ARE OFF>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
JimEspo is out early again with 10000 hits! Yeah!!! Joined 6/26...
Scott-O-Rama, Mid june Joiner is tiring, but funny.....
Timaloftis mid June Joiner (doesn't work for Netscape and I believe him) starts slow but then leaps ahead with TWO PEOPLE HE TALKED TO!!! Go TIm, really.
Where is Sundoggy and other beta people? THEY LIKE IT. Come on, it's groundhog day! You/we have said our piece before.
Most of us don't like it....at least the part where you disrespected us by forcing a new homepage choice on us and registration process.
Stop this, the horror, the horror.
Apologize for your rollout, get it over. We might come back. It will have to be a very good apology. You might have to get back some of the people you likely got rid of to mismanage this?
Happy trails!

July 2, 2006, 3:31 a.m.Sabaticl -- I like your icon! Setting up an icon is like painting your apartment; it suggests even though it's not your dream home, you might stay a while! I really hope you do... you add a certain something to our forum. I don't think anyone forced anything on anybody. No one "has" to register. "My Netscape" is still available to you as a home page.
Perhaps you are just upset some of us got in before you did (albeit by mere nano-seconds). That's okay... no one is going to hold that against you.
We are all starting out fresh on this new Netscape adventure... but combined we've probably all been surfing the internet for a long time...
Can you find anything you do like about the new Netscape?
